Young Innovators Reiterate Commitment To Advance Technology Innovations

Young Innovators of Nigeria (YIN), on Wednesday said it is committed to advancing technology innovations in the country, especially among young people.

The Founder of YIN, Mr Andrew Abu, made the commitment during the inauguration of a 30-member committee as Local Organising Committee (LOC) towards its annual Technology Ecosystem Dialogue and their ten years anniversary celebration in Abuja.

Abu said that there are diverse areas of technology that are emerging which the country needs to pay attention to, adding that ICT skills are in high demand across the globe.

“The way the world is going and the trend of technology, it is important that Nigerians, young people leverage technology to build their skills.

“Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things and other emerging technologies are changing the way we work and we need to utilise these technologies to advance innovation that will translate to national development,” Abu said.

Abu mentioned that the Technology ecosystem dialogue and their anniversary are expected to hold in October, where they will also unveil a book titled “Tech Republic.”

Mr Mayowa Ajiboye, Chairman of the LOC,expected that the dialogue will address issues about AI, climate change and food security.

Ajiboye said “it is important to let the world know that the organisation (YIN) has grown to this level and to appreciate our community especially our mentors that have helped us,contributed to our development and to also give back to society.

“We hope that we will bring life changing solutions to the current challenges of our nation, in the area of food security, in climate change and AI.

“It is something we feel our community should anticipate and be ready for the innovation that will be coming out from this event.”

Part of the activities expected to take place at the anniversary celebration includes hackathon, presentation and recognition of awards to notable organisations,institutions of government,individuals that have contributed to the growth of the nation and YIN.
