NDPC Set To Unveil  Registration Portal For Data Controllers, Processors

The National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, has disclosed that the commission has achieved about 163 Data Protection Compliance Organisations.
Dr Olatunji said the NDPC has, therefore, partnered with the Data Protection Compliance Organisations (DPCOs) in order to achieve its objective within a short period of time.
The Commissioner made the revelation at a meeting held by the commission, which had in attendance the DPCOs representatives. The meeting was aimed at deliberating on strategies regarding the registration portal for Data Controllers and Processors.
According to a statement issued by  the DPCOs, the National Commissioner stressed the importance of putting in place necessary measures and requesting input from DPCOs before commencing the registration of Data Controllers and Data Processors, hence, the presentation of the registration portal.
The statement added that the meeting provided an opportunity to address questions and comments, ensuring the development of a well-constructed registration portal.
The Commissioner further stated that DPCOs have been identified as major partners in the registration process and other initiatives of the Commission adding that the Commission is actively working on additional guidelines and regulations for various purposes in order to ensure a robust Data Protection culture in Nigeria.
