Naira Redesign ‘ll Create Jobs, Curb Crime – NACCIMA, President

The National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) says it is supporting the ongoing Naira notes redesigning exercise, saying it would make more money available to the banks to loan to entrepreneurs, create jobs and reduce crime.
NACCIMA President, Ide John Udeagbala made this known at the annual workshop organized by the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN) in Lagos on Thursday.
The Governor, of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, recently announced that the bank would release re-designed naira notes by December 15, 2022.
Udeagbala said, “we are in support of redesigning of naira notes because it’s long overdue. This will help our economy and also reduce crime. Though the time is short, the security and the presidency know the reason”.
According to him the redesigning of the Naira notes would help the banks to retrieve over 2 trillion that is outside the banking system which will enable banks to give loans to businesses.
Meanwhile, the NACCIMA boss also reacted on why semi-skilled labour can improve the Nigerian economy.
” We must go back to the drawing board and ensure our vocational schools work because it is important. Government must come up with a curriculum for vocational schools.
“Government is behaving as if Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) is for universities alone. Part of this money should be used to establish training centers”, he said.
