We Are Not Owner Of The Truck Involved In Ogun Accident – Dangote
Dangote Group has said it is not the owner of the truck involved in Ogun Accident on Friday, contrary to information earlier circulated by Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC and some online newspapers.
Dangote Group in a statement signed by Group Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina said; “Our attention has been drawn to some online media reports that a truck conveying petroleum product, which was involved in a fatal crash that claimed several lives, belongs to Dangote Flour.
“The truck bearing the logo of Dangote Flour was said to have been involved in an accident in Ogun State.
“However, contrary to a report by the Federal Road Safety Commission, the said truck does not belong to the Dangote Group. It should be noted that Olam International Ltd, makers of Crown Flour products, acquired Dangote Flour in 2019 in a widely publicized deal. The company now fully belongs to Olam.
“The loss of lives in this instance is regrettable and saddening. The public is advised to take note of this clarification”, the statement said.
The fatal accident which occurred in Isaara Bridge, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway reportedly claimed 17 lives. The two vehicles involved were:  a Mazda bus and a tanker. The victims involved one male and 16 female.
The suspected causes of the fatal crash, according to Ogun State Public Enlightenment Officer of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) SRC Florence Okpe were Route violation and Dangerous driving which resulted to head on collision and fire outbreak.
Ogun FRSC Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, described the crash as an avoidable one, if cautions were put in place and traffic rules and regulations were obeyed. He Commiserated with the family of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC Ogere for more information about the crash.
