Lagos NUJ Congratulates New Oniru of Iruland, Oba Gbolahan Lawal

The Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has congratulated the new Oniru of Iruland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Abisogun II, as the 15th Oniru of Iruland, Eti Osa, Lagos State.
A release jointly signed by the Union Chairman, Dr. Qasim Akinreti and the Secretary, Comrade Alfred Adebayo Odifa described his installation by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as a ‘Divine Call in transforming Iruland’!
Akinreti said, “the selection of Oba Lawal of the Abisogun Ruling House did not come as a surprise following the pedigree of the Oba elect”,a seasoned administrator and former security officer.
Born on 24 July, 1970 into the royal family of Chief T.A. Lawal-Akapo, the Ojora of Lagos and Olori M.A. Lawal-Akapo, Oba Gbolahan Lawal attended St. Gregory’s College Lagos, and holds a Bachelor’s of Science. Bsc,Degree in Botany from the University of Port-Harcourt, in 1992.
He also has Executive Msc Degree from the London’s School of Economics and Political Science.
Also,he studied Violence, Conflict and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
Oba Gbolahan Lawal has been a seasoned administrator with over 25years experience.
Oba Lawal started his career as a Scientific officer, with the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, he later joined the Nigeria Police Force and rose to a Cadet Assistant Superintendent.
While in the force, he served as the Aide-de-camp to the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He worked as a Senior Special Assistant on special projects to Governor Raji Fashola (SAN).
The Oba elect also served as a Commissioner for Housing under Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Until his installation as the 15th Oniru of Iruland, His Royal Majesty, HRM, Oba Lawal was a serving Commissioner for Agriculture, Lagos State.
He has several awards in recognition of his outstanding performances in the public sectors to his credit.
The Union prayed to Allah, that the ascension of Oba Lawal, Abisogun II, brings forth the start of a bright and promising journey into the next level of Iru Kingdom .
and give him more wisdoms,good health and long life on the throne of his forefathers.
