Customs FOU Zone ‘A’ Seizes N20.6m Poultry Products 

***As Yahaya Gives Smugglers Sleepless Nights

The Acting Controller, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘A’, of Nigeria Customs Service, Usman Yahaya since his appointment as the helmsman of FOU ZoneA, Ikeja,Lagos has up the ante the battle against die-hard smugglers operating within his area of assignment.

This became evident, as his Operatives intercepted and destroyed smuggled poultry products with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N20.6 million

Yahaya disclosed that the seizures were made in two separate operations within just one week.

He made this known to journalists in Lagos through a press statement issued by the Unit’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Jerry Attah.

According to him, “Our men have sustained round the clock patrols, while keeping to safe distance rules in line with Covid-19 prevention techniques.

“The seizures came in 2,154 cartons, laden in seven different vehicles.

The Acting Controller added, “These seizures , which we made within a week is a strong message to smugglers and trans-border criminals. They should not be deceived into concluding that we are away from our duty posts.
“As usual, we are on duty and will continue to surprise smugglers with seizures and arrests any time they dare us.

“These seizures were brought in seven vehicles that were quickly abandoned by the drivers, who fled on sighting our officers. We had to improvise means of driving the vehicles to our premises, because the smugglers ran away with the keys”.

He also said that the highest bulk of seizure was achieved by a patrol team led by Steven Abah, a Chief Superintendent of Customs, whose team brought in 1500 cartons in a swoop.

Yahaya stressed that FOU zone’ A’ will leave no stone unturned in its anti-smuggling operations.
