NCC Releases Latest Subscriber Statistics: Mobile, Fixed Telephony
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has published its latest subscriber statistics, revealing insights into the country’s mobile and fixed telephony as well as data services. The data, spanning from April 2017 to August 2023, highlights trends in subscriber numbers and teledensity across various technologies and operators.*
The data shows a consistent growth in active lines for mobile (GSM) services, with a slight fluctuation over the months. As of December 2023, the number of active GSM lines stood at 224,412,931, showing a marginal increase from the previous months.
The figures indicate a decline in CDMA mobile lines, with no active lines reported for the recent months. However, historical data shows that CDMA lines were prevalent in earlier years, with a significant drop in numbers over time.
The data reveals a relatively stable number of fixed wired/wireless lines, with minor fluctuations observed over the months. As of December 2023, there were 111,971 active fixed lines, indicating a slight decrease from the previous month.

The teledensity, which measures the number of active telephone connections per 100 inhabitants, was reported at 103.66 in December 2023, indicating a slight decrease from the previous months.
