Air Peace Didn’t Crash – NCAA Refutes Reports Of Mishap

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has refuted reports in some section of the media that there was  air crash involving Air Peace aircraft.

The NCAA stated that the Air Peace B737-500 plane only experience a tyre burst in Illorin, Kwara State and that all passengers were safe.

This was disclosed in a statement by  the General Manager, Public Relations, NCAA, Mr Sam Adurogboye in Lagos, refuting media reports that an Air Peace plane with registration mark 5N-BQR, was involved in an air crash in Ilorin, on July 23.

“As a matter of fact, the said aircraft, which departed from Abuja successfully, landed in Ilorin. It only experienced a tyre burst in the course of taxing.

“Meanwhile, all the 66 passengers and six crew members onboard were disembarked without any issues whatsoever on the same day.

“The Authority wishes to enjoin the travelling public to disregard such false and reckless presentations,” he said.

Adurogboye stated that NCAA is committed to ensuring safer and secure air travels space in Nigeria and urged the media to be professional and avoid publishing fake news.

Air Peace Airline cleared the air on the alleged near-crash of one of its aircraft, as it disclosed that it was the plane’s tyre that burst after landing at the Ilorin Airport in Kwara State.

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), the investigating body in charge of all aviation-related accidents and incidents in Nigeria, confirmed that the incident occurred but said there was no plane crash.
