By Sylvanus Ekpo
On September 17, 2020, all roads led to the pristine community of Nneato, in Umunneochi Local Government Area, Abia State, for the coronation of a Lagos businessman and philanthropist, Chief Kenneth Uchenna Uzoigwe as the Agunaecheibe 1 of Okwe Kingdom.
His is the Managing Director/CEO of Kelin Court and Kelin Hotels in Lagos.
The conferment of this royal honour was performed by His Royal Highness, Eze Emmanuel A. C. Azoro, Okwe 1 of Okwe Kingdom.
According to the royal father, Chief Kenneth Uchenna Uzoigwe a.ka. Osike has touched the lives of people in his community in more ways than one, especially after the construction of the link road to Nneato through Obinagu community, thus restoring the road that had been abandoned for many years. The award was presented to Hon. Tobias Egeonu on behalf of the businessman and philanthropist.
Chief Kenneth Uzoigwe a.k.a Osike has continued to impact his community in many ways.
For instance, he single-handedly built the Apostolic Church in Obinagu, and opened up the link road through the Spiritan University.
He also supported the military Command in Umunneochi axis to help curb the menace of armed bandits.
A peace advocate, Chief Osike runs the South East Foundation which is poised to lift the burdens of the people.
Apart from the roads built in the village, Chief Osike has also built roads and provided street lights in Lagos; feeding about 3,000 persons during the Covid-19 pandemic in Surulere, Lagos.
During the height of the pandemic, he ensured that his workers were retained in the two hotels he runs in Lagos, rather opting to use innovative management strategy to help the company and its staffers, in spite of the dire economic situation resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief Osike believes serving the people comes naturally to him.
In the cause of his earthly sojourn, he has demonstrated uncommon penchant for philanthropy and community development,  and hopes to continue to do so for his people.
“So far, God has brought me to a place of commitment to serve my people. I’m about setting up the Kelin Foundation to meet the needs of the less privileged and provide educational scholarships to deserving indigent students from my community,” he enthused.
He sees community service as a spiritual thing that comes from the unction of God.
We congratulate Chief Osike and wish him the best in his future endeavours.
